Seahawks, We Need You on Deck!
Good morning, Seahawks!
Our summer swim team truly takes a village to create the fun, supportive, and high-energy environment we want for our swimmers each season and being part of that behind the scenes is one of the most rewarding and important parts of the experience.
As we gear up for 2026, we have a few key volunteer roles that must be filled, and they come with training opportunities in May and June. These aren’t just “fill a slot” positions. They’re a chance to be at the heart of what makes our team run.
The Official/Starter and IT Coordinator roles are board-level positions that check off all your volunteer requirements for the season. Even better, you’ll get a front-row seat working alongside all of our current board members, which in my opinion is a win win!
If you’ve been looking for a way to get more involved, meet great people, and make a real impact on the team, this is it. (And yes… the board member shirt is pretty great, too 😉)
1. IT Coordinator (Online and in person training)- Our previous IT will come alongside you to help support.
- Perfect position for someone who enjoys working with technology.
- Coordinates with coaches prior to meets (Thursdays) and makes any changes in the meet documents prior to the start of the meet.
- IT Team works on deck during meets to run our meet management system.
- Our Time Drops System automatically uploads swimmers' times into our data base.
- Makes sure all swimmers are accounted for in lanes and manages DQs with the help of volunteers.
- IT Training
2. STROKE & TURN JUDGES- We need at least 8 volunteers to sign up for this training and be willing to volunteer at meets. We can't have a meet without stroke and turn judges.
- Requires pre-season FSSL Training (1 hour Online or in person training)
- Responsible for making calls for any rule violations within their assigned jurisdiction. (We always err on the side of the swimmers.)
- Officials Training Sign Up Form. (Please email me if you sign up.)
- Earn a free item from our apparel shop as compensation for taking the training.
- Seahawks will supply the white collared shirt that officials must wear at meets.
3. Officials Coordinator/STARTER
- Requires pre-season FSSL Training (online and in person options)
- Announces & starts the events with the buzzer/light device on the pool deck
- Meets with Timers & Stroke/Turn Judges 30 minutes prior to the start of meet.
- Prior experience with FSSL and/or USA swimming
- Officials Training Sign Up Form.
Behind every great Seahawk is a great volunteer. Thank you, in advance, for signing up for these key roles! Please let me know if you have any specific questions. We're all in this together!
