Seahawks- Week 6
Good morning Seahawks!
Despite the weather yesterday, we had a great meet against the Brunswick River Rapids. Our practices and meets are rain or shine unless the lifeguards say it's unsafe to swim and then an email will be sent out. We had 111 swimmers register to attend the meet (20 no shows). Our swimmers swam 383 events, earning 142 personal best times. Overall, we earned a grand total of 470 points with the River Rapids earning 139. Way to go Seahawks!
We didn't have any new All Star swimmers, however, we did have some improved times. Riley Knightly improved her All Star times in 50 free, 100 IM, 25 Back and 25 Fly. Ellie Fanning improved her time in 50 Fly and Kyle Jenkins improved his time in 25 Free. That's quite an accomplishment considering there were no diving blocks! All Star results are here.
A HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers for making the meet successful! Shout out to our stroke and turn team- Shenggang Wang, Courtney Bouk, and Christy Eichelberger! We appreciate your willingness to serve our team in this capacity. Disqualifications help us improve each week!
The Meet Results and Photos can be found here. Please add your own photos and tag us when you post @villagesofurbanaseahawks.
EASTSIDE SPLASHDOWN RELAY CARNIVAL
What is a Relay Carnival? A Relay Carnival is a meet that consists of all relays. There are 8 teams that attend and each team gets assigned 1 lane. There are 24 relays that all have different requirements. Some are freestyle, some are medley, some have age requirements, and others are unique like the back stroke and freestyle relay. Awards will be given for 1st and 2nd place for each relay and a trophy for overall team winner. This is all just for fun and our swimmers had a blast last summer. Pictures of the Eastside Splashdown 2025 can be found here.
We don't have a meet this weekend due to the 4th of July, but if you'd like to be part of the Relay Carnival on July 7th, you must Declare whether your swimmer can attend by 10 PM on July 1st. The Relay Carnival is at Stone Barn Pool and warm ups start at 5:00 pm. We will not have practice that evening. With that said, if you declare that your swimmer can attend, please show up! Our swimmers will be very disappointed if they can't swim their relay because we have to scratch due to a no show. Due to the nature of this meet, there's a chance that not all swimmers who declare will be able to swim due to the requirements of each relay. Coach Lilly will do her best to ensure the maximum amount of swimmers can be included.
