Seahawks- Week 8
Good morning Seahawks,
Can you believe that we are at the end of our season? This is the last week of practices and events for most of our swimmers. If your swimmer has an earned an All Star Time, you will get a separate email with information about the All Star Meet.
To say we are proud of our team is an understatement. We have seen swimmers gain confidence, try events that they never thought they would (and then go ahead and win their heats!), parents volunteer for jobs that require training, long hours, and early mornings. Thank you for helping to make this season the success that it's been!
We have a few events left and some upcoming deadlines to be aware of but first...
SATURDAY'S MEET RECAP
Seahawks showed up once again with a win over PVYA and Tallyn Ridge. We had 128 swimmers improve in 198 events! Way to go!
Several swimmers achieved All-Star times for the first time, and many others continued to improve their qualifying times- an incredible accomplishment for all involved.
Congratulations to Jonathan Lee (100 IM and Back), Ellie Fanning (50 Free and Fly), Adrian Gut (Fly), Angela Xie (50 Free, Breast, and 100 Free), Nikolai Voroshchuk (25 Free), Tyler Goodman (Fly), Winston Gu (Back), Jackson Scales (50 Free and 100 Free), Havisha Kurapati (Back), Landon Mitchell (100 Free), and Sarah Xie (Breast and Back). A list of specific times and events are listed here. Our meet results and photos can be found here.
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who filled 93 positions! When we say it takes a village to pull off a home meet, we're not kidding! We appreciate all of you!
A huge and special shout-out to our incredible IT team, Jonathan Fernandez and Ahmed Shaikh!
This dynamic duo stepped into one of the most critical (and often invisible) roles on our team this season, and we couldn't be more grateful. From seeding the meets, setting up before the meet, keeping everything running smoothly during competition, trouble shooting the countless things that can and do go wrong, to wrapping everything up afterward, they work tirelessly behind the scenes to make every meet a success.
The best news? They've already agreed to come back next season... and now that it's in writing, there's no backing out! 😄
Thank you, Jonathan and Ahmed, for your countless hours, problem-solving, and dedication to the Seahawks. We truly couldn't do it without you!
MINI MEET- Deadline is noon TODAY (7/12)
The Mini Meet is for all swimmers 8 and under and will take place on Tuesday 7/14 at the Stone Barn Pool with our Blue Crabs friends. There are kickboard events and will be junior coaches available in the water for any swimmer who would like support. This is a great opportunity to try new events for our 8 and under Seahawks. There will be ribbons awarded to swimmers and cupcakes at the end of the meet. The Crab Shack will be open with snacks, drinks, and pizza to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a time change for the event from previously shared. The meet will run from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
We still need some Timers so please consider helping out! Declare your swimmer by clicking HERE.
***Afternoon practice will be cancelled. Come support our team at Stone Barn instead!
DIVISION 4 MEET- Declare by Tuesday at 10 am!
Divisionals is a meet that includes all 5 teams. It will be hosted by Dearbought at 100 Eli Court. This is the location of our first away meet.
You may declare your swimmer for up to 3 individual events. This is a meet to swim your best events and not the meet to try a new event for the first time. If you haven't swam in 2 division meets this season, your swimmer will still be able to attend and record a time for each event they swim, but will be considered exhibition for our team. That means that they won't place in an event but their times will still be valid and are able to qualify for All Stars. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you to those that have already declared and signed up to volunteer. We still need a few more slots filled. Please declare and sign up HERE.
The Division 4 meet notice is attached for information about parking, team setup, etc. Please read carefully.
